It was wonderful last night to post some new material on this blog!
I’ve been busy attending to health issues for the past several months. A week and a half ago, I learned that I had an eye infection because of my nearly year old soft contact lenses. My left eye was beet red when I went to see my optometrist on June 17 after work. He looked at both my eyes and told me that an allergy didn’t cause the problem, but an eye infection was the real culprit for my itchy, watery eyes. My old contact lenses were toast, regardless of the fact that I clean them every night.
So, it’s disposable contact lenses for me, instead of the yearly ones. Btw, my optometrist told me that those permanent year long ones have just been discontinued by the manufacturer, Acuvue.
But that’s not my only health problem. A month ago, I was allergy tested at an allergy clinic in Brookline. I discovered that I am allergic to grass and it’s now the grass allergy season! I’m taking a substitute version of Zrytec that I bought a BJ’s in Quincy every night. It’s been helpful for my runny nose. I’m also using a nose spray as well as doing the salt water irrigation for my nostrils every morning. I saw my allergist today and she says I’m doing well.
However, yesterday I went to see the spine doctor at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and was told that one of my discs is pressing against a nerve that’s making my right leg weak more than a year. I had been doing acupuncture last year and this year physical therapy to strengthen my right leg, but it hasn’t improved much. Several years back, I was in a terrible car accident which injured my back, neck, and leg. It seems that this disc has been pressing against my right leg’s nerve from that time and is making my right leg feel very weak now.
The spine doctor told me the next step: Spinal Injection. I made an appointment for that next month. Hopefully, this will make my right leg feel better once again.
[...] I can’t believe June went by so fast! I hardly had time to post at this blog because of health reasons which I detailed on my other blog, Uncommon Bostonian. I had activities that I went to like my 25 year college reunion at Emerson earlier this month. [...]
